What changes the price?
- Tray or level floor. A level floor means more work under the surface.
- Concrete or timber floor. Cutting a concrete slab for a drain adds cost.
- Wall finish. Wall panels are quicker to fit than tiles and have no grout to clean.
- Moving plumbing. Keeping the shower where the bath taps were is cheapest.
- Extras. A wider door, a raised toilet, a new basin or better lighting.

Your questions answered
Is a walk-in shower cheaper than a wet room?
Yes, usually by a few thousand euro. A walk-in shower reuses the bath space and keeps the existing floor. A wet room rebuilds and waterproofs the whole floor.
Do I pay VAT on a walk-in shower?
The quote will show VAT. Some people with a disability can reclaim VAT on certain aids and appliances from Revenue. Ask Revenue or your accountant whether your job qualifies before relying on it.
Can I pay privately and claim the grant afterwards?
No. Councils do not pay grants for work that started before approval. If you need the work done quickly, paying privately is the alternative to waiting.
Why is your price a range?
Because bathrooms differ. Floor type, room size and wall finish change the amount of work. The range tells you what to expect; the written quote gives the exact figure.
